Found Friday: Classic Chairs

A great chair can be the focal point of any room. These four favorites are clean, modern icons from four of the greatest mid-century designers. Clockwise from top left:

Mies van der Rohe Barcelona Chair. This German architect is known for his attention to detail. He originally created this chair for Spanish royalty and is still produced to these rigid standards.

Arne Jacobsen Swan Chair. This Danish architect and designer took inspiration from the organic shapes in nature.

Panton Kids Chair. Another great Danish designer, Verner Panton studied under Arne Jacobsen. His Panton chair was revolutionary in that it is the first single-formed injection moulded seating ever designed.

Eames Eiffel Chair. Charles and Ray Eames were the inventive, iconic American designers that imagined this chair. The molded plastic chair is great in a dining room or office – even though it’s plastic, it’s been perfectly molded for comfort.
